North by North East is a dense, slowly shifting tone collage. Drawing inspiration from the seasons and topology of their native landscapes, Andrew Heath and Seigo Aoyama present an album which displays their unique styles in the use of piano, electronics, field recordings and found sounds.

There is such purpose and elegance here, immersing the listener in a visual world of ice, cold seas and empty houses. A drifting sonic homage to the time of winter. Hesitant and subtle piano melodies, perfectly choreographed, balance with glistening electronics and treatments as it reveals the stark beauty of this time of year and leaving perhaps the closing track to announce a thaw and the possible arrival of spring.

Andrew Heath is a UK based artist. He composes piano based ambient music. Quiet and intimate, it explores sounds from both acoustic and electronic sources, along with processed field recordings and gathered, ‘found’ sounds.

As well as many solo releases under his own name, he has collaborated with artists including legendary German musician, Hans-Joachim Roedelius, experimental classical composers, Christopher Chaplin and Simon McCorry, Dutch ambient guitarist, Anne Chris Bakker, Argentinian composer Mi Cosa de Resistance and UK artists, Toby Marks (Banco de Gaia) and James Osland.

Seigo Aoyama is a Japanese musician, composer and sound designer based in Tokyo.
His career started playing piano & keyboards in many pop, rock and jazz groups before studying classical musical, with a focus on 20th century composers (Debussy, Stravinsky, Cage, Reich and Scheffer).

His own contemporary, ambient and experimental music uses piano, electronics and field recordings to create harmonious and layered work that draws on many diverse sources for inspiration.
