about

A Ritual to the Goddesses - Exploring the relationship between our perception as humans, the Earth, and nature

“Take a deep dive into the duo’s atmospheric soundscapes” The Fader

MIxmag: “atmospheric ambient tracks that lulls and calms as it moves through its motions.”
Music Radar: “abstract and atmospheric, a drifting, blissful soundworld that recalls the luxuriant tones of Brian Eno's LUX. ”
Self-titled magazine: “a weightless exchange of sound waves and abstract ideas”

BON is a production, composition, writing, and art partnership by Yerosha Windrich and Alex Morris. Filmed in the pairs London studio, ‘Pantheon’ comes as a visual album created as an ode to nature. The images glitch between altered perceptions and the internal worlds all around us, and half remembered clips from a fragmented timeline collide with the brains desire to ‘make sense’ of things. It is set for release on September 10th.

“We wanted to create a record using samples from recordings we created ourselves that were calm, romantic and had a natural, timeless feel. Something weathered and low-fi, but Hi-Fi and complete all at the same time. Something with the spirit of a well-loved worn-out cassette but using cutting edge production techniques. Hiss, noise and distortion are all treated here as instruments in these compositions. Asking the questions “What is quality, perfection and character and what do these words mean to us”. We took our own recordings and manipulated them, letting them evolve through the technology, reflecting the cyclical and evolutionary nature of all creative processes.”

‘Pantheon’s 16 tracks are named after Goddesses spanning multiple cultures, a celebration and embodiment of the archetypes. Composers Laraaji and Maxwell Sterling feature, as well as another collaboration with Lucinda Chua, having already joined forces on her debut single ‘Until I Fall’ (4AD.) With a life-long interest in popular culture, philosophy and perceptual conventions, BON help others express, create and frame their narratives. Their philosophy is to create art in the spirit of inclusiveness, be it social, sexual or racial with the utmost respect for personal sovereignty. The philosophy grew out of a desire to support the other. Both coming from mixed race heritage yet rooted in the UK, BON explores counterculture, the perception of what music means and stands for in society and looks at reflecting the melting pot that sits between and on the edge of genre. Constantly looking for breakthrough music that creates a space for itself.

BON were recently invited by Professor Leila Adu to participate in NYU’s Critical Sonic Practice Symposium Elegy, discussing a range of topics from music practice, theory, history and political activeness alongside Jason King, Isabelia Herrera, and Dr Kwami Coleman to name but a few. They have contributed to projects on Warp Records, Hyperdub Records and 4AD as well as having releases with Alxndr London and Dadras (Uno NYC). Their own label Spatial Awareness has released previous collaborations with Mykki Blanco as well as their own project 33:33.

Seeing their own musical releases as seasonal, and a consolidation of the sounds that have been developed, ‘Pantheon’ is a modern classical and ambient beauty, with a stunning visual to match
